Milagros Martín


Soprano

Born in Madrid, where she studied at the Escuela Superior de Canto.
In 1992 she sang with Plácido Domingo at a Spanish Royal Gala, and in 1994 she opened The Autumn Festival at the Audiencia Nacional in Madrid.
She has performed at the Opera di Roma, the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe, the Paris Opéra Comique and the Washington Opera, singing zarzuelas such as La del manojo de rosas, La chulapona, Luisa Fernanda, El gato montés and Doña Francisquita.
She has sung Carmen in Spain, France, Turkey and Colombia and La vida breve at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
On an annual basis, she sings in the opera season in Lima (Peru).
Last season she took part in the world premiere of El Juez – a contemporary opera which was written by Christian Kolonovits and first performed at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao.
She is one of the world’s greatest zarzuelas singers, and the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores has presented her with its “Best Zarzuela Singer” award.
