Alexei Chuvashov


Baritone

Prize-winner at an All-Russian competition.

Alexei Chuvashov was born in the Kirov Region. In 2001 he graduated from the conducting and choral faculty of the Kirov School of Arts. In 2005 he graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Georgy Seleznev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation) and in 2008 he completed his post-graduate studies there (class of Kira Izotova, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation).
Since 2000 he has worked with the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, appearing in roles including Robert (Iolanta), a Company Member (Eugene Onegin), Sokolka (The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Bogatyrs) Fiorello and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Wagner and Valentin (Faust), Marcello (La Bohème), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Giorgio Germont and Baron Douphol (La traviata) and the Count (Il matrimonio segreto).
In various opera projects he has performed roles including Shchelkalov (Boris Godunov), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Uberto (La serva padrona), Colas (Bastien und Bastienne), Osmin (Zaide), Buff (Der Schauspieldirektor), the Bandmaster (The Orchestra’s Conductor), Silvio (I pagliacci) and the Matchmaker (Rusalka).
Repertoire also includes: Ivan-Korolevich (Kashchei the Deathless), Prince Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Lanciotto (Francesca da Rimini), Don Ferdinand (Betrothal in a Monastery), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) and Gaspar (Rita, ou Le Mari battu).
Alexei Chuvashov works with such conductors as Vladislav Chernushenko, Alexander Sladkovsky, Valentin Nesterov, Fabio Mastrangelo, V. Sobolev, Dmitry Ralko, Valery Raevsky, Viktor Kurzhavsky and Dmitry Zubov among others.
Collaborates with contemporary composers. Is involved in research work and teaching. Tours throughout Russia and Europe.
