Natalia Domskaya studied music at the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. In 1980, after graduating from the conservatoire, she joined the Mariinsky Opera Company as an opera concert mistress. Over the course of her career at the Theatre, Natalia Domskaya was involved in many opera productions, among them Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades staged by Yuri Temirkanov.

Natalia Domskaya mastered the theatre’s entire opera repertoire, including works in English, German, French and Italian as well as in Russian, and she worked with singers as a vocal coach. Well-skilled at reading scores, she created a piano transposition of the opera Boris Godunov using Musorgsky’s manuscripts, and was responsible for the musical preparation of the operas Faust by Charles Gounod, The Fiery Angel by Sergei Prokofiev, The Enchanted Wanderer by Rodion Shchedrin, Igor Stravinsky’s opera-oratorio Oedipus Rex and Hector Berlioz’ dramatic legend La Damnation de Faust among others. She worked with such outstanding musicians as Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Yevgeny Kolobov, Eve Queler, John Cannon, Plácido Domingo and Henri Dutilleux. Performed in concert halls throughout Russia and abroad with Nikolai Putilin, Yuri Marusin, Lyubov Kazarnovskaya, Bulat Minzhilkiev, Marianna Tarasova, Irina Bogacheva, Galina Kovaleva and Gennady Bezzubenkov. Toured with the Mariinsky Opera to the USA, Japan, Italy, Germany, Spain and Portugal.

Died at the age of sixty-five on 12 November 2019.
