Olga Piccolo graduated from the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music and the Petrozavodsk Branch of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory as a musicologist. Trained at the School of Oratory Art of St Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy. In 1993 she started working as an MC at concerts for children at the Karelian State Philharmonic (Petrozavodsk). Since 1999 Olga has been Artistic and General Director of St Petersburg’s Piccolo Music Academy for Children.
Olga is a member of the Association of Music Psychologists and Psychotherapists. She has written the books of poetry My Spirals and As if I’m Drinking from Heaven. Since 2012 Olga’s principal venue has been the Mariinsky Theatre. Olga is Director of Piccolo private musical school in St Petersburg and the Piccolo international family musical camp for children. Since 2020 she has been a trustee of the foundation for orphans Orthodox Children’s Mission.
Olga’s original projects Piccolo at the Mariinsky and Music Told in Tales of Sand enjoy great success and popularity with children and their parents. Internationally rated performers collaborate with the Piccolo lecture series. Forty fairy-tale interactive musical sessions and music stories in the series are targeted at children and teenagers aged between three and fifteen. The concerts and performances with sand animation are run using a unique and original method. Pieces of classical music are threaded on a canvas of classical stories as well as original tales by the narrator. Since July 2019 all of Olga’s performances have been included in the monthly broadcasts on Radio Russia – St Petersburg in addition to being recorded by Olga in audio format.
