In 2003, Galya Solodovnikova graduated from the Kosygin Moscow State Textile University, specialising in Artistic Costume Design. In 2005, she obtained Master’s Degree in Stage Design at Central Saint Martins. In 2001, Solodovnikova co-founded and developed the ALOE clothing brand.
From 2005 to 2007, Solodovnikova was the artistic director of the Future Cinema Company (London). In 2006, she was a guest lector of the Instituto Europeo di Design in São Paulo, Brazil. From 2007, Solodovnikova has been teaching at the British Higher School of Design (Moscow). In 2011, Solodovnikova founded the theatre lab Three Play Suzdal.

At the Mariinsky Theatre she designed the ballets by Vladimir Varnava Yaroslavna. The Eclipse (2018), Petrouchka (2018) and Le Bœuf sur le toit (2020).
Among the productions on which Galya Solodovnikova worked as stage designer and costume designer are Don Pasquale (2016) and The Golden Cockerel (2011) for the Bolshoi Theatre; Le Baiser de la fée (2016) for Les Ballets de Monte Carlo; Pasternak, Life is My Sister (2016) and Mandelshtam. The Age – wolfhound (2016) for the Gogol Centre; Pétrouchka (2017), Les Contes d'Hoffmann (2015), The Malachite Casket (2012), Medeamaterial (2012), and La voix humaine (2011) for the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre; The Earth (2015) and Exhibit Item/Awakening (2014) for the new stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre; Shakespeare Labyrinth (2014) for the Theatre of Nations; Tannhäuser (2014) at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; Anna Karenina (2012) and The Uncle’s Dream (2010) for the Perm Academic Teatr-Teatr; Normansk (2014) and Parasites (2002) for the Meyerhold Theatre Centre; The Cinderella (2013) for the Bolshoy St Petersburg State Circus; Heroides. Dancing Letters (2013) for the School of Dramatic Art Theatre; Waves (2012) for the Polytheatre in Moscow; The Field (2010) for the School of Modern Drama Theatre; Chukchi (2009) for the Stage-Molot Theatre in Perm. Designed by Galya Solodovnikova production Exhibit Item/Awakening has received a Golden Mask Award in the category “Contemporary Dance/Best Production” (2015). Her production The Full Moon took home the award in the category “Experiment” (2013). Solodovnikova’s projects were presented at the Vilnius and Bilbao festivals, at the London Film Festival (2005), the 1st Moscow Biennale, the Edinburgh Festival (2006), Net Festival (Moscow, 2005), ROZAMIRA (Moscow, 2007), Texture (2010), and Territory Festivals (Sochi-Kazan 2011, Moscow 2012).
