Tchaikovsky @ White Nights

|
Stars of the White Nights
fesival kicks off tonight at both the Mariinsky Theatre and the Mariinsky Concert Hall along with the
start of our sales campaign for the new season
subscription series as well as the
new Mariinsky Label Stravinsky
release. As usual (sic!) the festival is going to be
very intense. We look forward to performing many
remarkable music events featuring our numerous company
as well guest artists. Stay with us in order to be
updated on whats going on at the Mariinsky and
keep an eye on our most exciting happenings. You are
more than welcome to come and see our events this summer. Enjoy!
Our festival is shaped around (but certainly not
limited to) the legacy of a few most important
composers in the entire history of music. Over the
next nine weeks we are going to explore operas and
ballets, chamber and symphony concerts featring works
by such prominent composers
as Tchaikovsky, Musorgsky, Wagner, Prokofiev, Chopin, Shchedrin —
each of them invented his own style that stands
out of the others and makes their music so unique to them.
In the first ten days of the White Nights
we are exploring Tchaikovskys legacy
through the range of his theatrical works. This series
of ballets and operas forms the core of our repertoire
for decades since they received their premieres in our
theatre, most often directed by the composer
himself. These performances put together in such a
short period form
a festival within a festival
that gives a chance for everyone to either explore a
wide range of Tchaikovskys works or simply enjoy these
audience favourites on our historic stage.
