A Silver Chord. Second lecture

Marking one hundred and seventy-five years since the birth of Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840)

Written and presented by Leonid Gakkel

A series of six lectures and concerts. “Line of silver” are words from the Old Testament indicating the spiritual succession from one generation to the next. An extremely important role in the embodiment of this practice is played by the creators of artistic values that convey the experience of human love, tolerance and common sense to people.
The programmes of these one-hour evenings include both a lecture and a concert and are dedicated to anniversaries of outstanding European composers of the 17th 20th centuries. The concert element of each evening programme features opera soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre and artists of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
