Boris opens the Stars
25 and 26 May and 26 June will see the premiere of a new production of Modest Musorgsky’s opera Boris Godunov at the Mariinsky Theatre by renowned British stage director Graham Vick under the musical direction of Valery Gergiev.
The performance on 25 May opens the XX Stars of the White Nights music festival.
That evening, the role of Boris will be performed by Yevgeny Nikitin.

Premiere of Claude Debussy’s opera Pelléas et Mélisande at the Mariinsky Theatre
The Mariinsky Theatre will be hosting the premiere of a new production of Claude Debussy’s opera based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s play Pelléas et Mélisande on 13 April at 19:00, on 14 April at 14:00 and on 18 April at 20:00

Premiere of Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann at the Mariinsky Theatre
On 26 and 27 December and 24 January the Mariinsky Theatre will be presenting Jacques Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann – the first opera premiere of the season; Valery Gergiev will be conducting the production, directed by Vasily Barkhatov and designed by Zinovy Margolin with costumes by Maria Danilova
