Chris Ekers


Sound Engineer
Chris Ekers launched his career in London thirty years ago with the theatre sound rental company Autograph Sound Recording. Over the years, he has been involved in many West End musical productions, notably Song and Dance, Starlight Express and Chess.

Since 1987 he has worked as a freelance sound engineer and designer for composers, ensembles and various dance, opera and theatre companies. Chris has been involved with the contemporary arts for many years and has worked closely with choreographers including Siobhan Davis and William Forsythe and such musicians as Gavin Bryars and the Hilliard Ensemble. Chris has collaborated with Max Richter for the past ten years on various live projects including recent performances of Recomposed with Daniel Hope. He has worked on many large-scale projects from corporate events to Pavarotti in the Park. Chris completed an eighteen-month contract as Senior Production Manager for Audio, Broadcast Audio and Communications for London 2012 Ceremonies Ltd which successfully produced the opening and closing ceremonies for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He is head of sound for the annual Fes Festival of Sacred World Music in Morocco and worked for Assembly Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for ten years. He co-designs sound for Raymond Gubbay’s opera productions on an annual basis at the Royal Albert Hall, where new “sound imaging” technology is used to replicate faithfully the movement of performers.

Infra is his first collaboration with Wayne McGregor for the Royal Ballet.
