Sergei Semishkur was born in Kirov. Graduated from the Nizhny-Novgorod State Glinka Conservatoire in 2003 (faculties of choral conducting and academic vocals).
Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers from the same year. Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 2007.

Sergei Semishkur has taken part in Mariinsky Theatre tours, as well as appearing independently as a chamber singer in Spain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Finland, Luxemburg, the UK, Austria, the USA and Israel.
In 2006 Sergei Semishkur took part in a production of the opera La bohème, performing as Rodolfo at the Warsaw Opera, and in 2007 he appeared in a production of Benvenuto Cellini at the Salzburg Festspiele.
In the 2009-2010 season he performed the tenor role in Verdi’s Requiem alongside Bryn Terfel and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in Cardiff and alongside René Pape and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in Munich (conducted by Valery Gergiev).
