Lyudmila Kasianenko has been a Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 1978. Over her long career at the theatre, she has performed many roles in  the soprano repertoire, in cluding Antonida (Ivan Susanin), the Swan Princess (The Tale of Tsar Saltan), Lauretta (Betrothal in  a Monastery), Pleasant Lady (Dead Souls), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Norina (L'elisir d'amore), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata), Sacerdotessa (Aida), Frasquita (Carmen) and Sophie (Werther).

Together with the Mariinsky Opera Company, she has toured to Germany, France, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Japan, the USA, Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. The singer's videodiscs in clude recordings of the operas Sadko and The Fiery Angel (Philips Classics).
