Viengsay Valdés was born, in Havana . Graduated from National School of Arts with a degree in Dance and Choreography with Gold Diplome. While she was a student she won numerous prizes and distinctions,including Gold Medal in the Vignale Dance Festival , Italy and Grand Prize in National Competition of Dance by the Union of Artists and Writers of Cuba (UNEAC). She joined the Ballet Nacional de Cuba as a Principal Dancer and has performed leading rols with the Company throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.

Her wide repertory includes leading roles in grand romantic-classical ballets and the contemporary works by Cuban and foreign choreographers.She is best known for interpretation of the female roles in the ballets Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Coppelia, and others.

She is a representative of the Cuban ballet school led by Alicia Alonso, which combine virtuous dance technique and sincerity of artistic expression .

Ms. Valdés was invited to dance in numerous World Stars Ballet Galas as well and Festivals in Budapest, Paris, Cannes, Beijing, Tokyo, Prague, Lisbon Istambul and Copenhagen, among others. She is distinguished ballerina for her technical confidence and her strong sense of theatricality.
