Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor.
Artistic Director and Principal Stage Director of the "Zazerkalye" State Children´s Music Theatre.
Graduated from the opera directing faculty of the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire.
From 1974-1987 worked at the St Petersburg State Academic Musorgsky Theatre of Opera and Ballet, where he staged Iolanta, Ferdinand the Great (degree production), Rigoletto, Gianni Schicchi and The Man of La Mancha.
In 1979 he staged the first production in Russia of Menotti´s opera The Medium.
In 1977 he staged Kabalevsky´s opera Colas Breugnon at the Stara Zagora Theatre (Bulgaria). He has staged productions for theatres in Krasnoyarsk, Tbilisi, Khabarovsk, Minsk and Odessa.

In St Petersburg he has staged productions for the Tovstonogov Academic Grand Drama Theatre, the Bryantsev Young Viewers´ Theatre, the State Academic Akimov Comedy Theatre and the State Academic Theatre "On Liteiny". At the Mariinsky Theatre, he has staged the operas Love for Three Oranges (1991) and Le Rossignol (1995).
In 1987 together with conductor Pavel Bubelnikov, he established a children´s music theatre (now the "Zazerkalye" State Children´s Music Theatre). At the "Zazerkalye" Theatre he has staged over twenty productions including Die Zauberflote, The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep, The Christmas Mystery, L´elisir d´amore, La Boheme and The Soldier´s Tale. His productions of The Village in the Snuff-Box, A Musical Album for Children, Noah´s Ark and Finist the Bright Falcon received awards from the Russian Federation Theatre Workers´ Union in the category "Best production of the year".
In 1993 the "Zazerkalye" Theatre and the US opera company Operafest (Boston) staged a co-production of Menotti´s The Medium, which has been performed in the USA and at the Hermitage Theatre in St Petersburg.
