Irina Sharonova


Choreographer

Irina Sharonova trained as a choreographer and choreography teacher at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire and the Humanitarian Trades Unions University in St Petersburg.
In the mid 1990s she began to work on pieces for figure skaters. Initially this was for students at the Children’s and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve and later for acclaimed sportsmen. In 2004-2005 she was engaged in ice-show productions with Yevgeny Plyushchenko and Alexei Yagudin. In 2009 she created the opening and closing ceremonies of the Figure Skating Grand Prix Finale in Tokyo, and in 2011 she did the same for participants in the World Championship.
Since 2004 Irina Sharonova has been the head choreographer of the Mimigrants clown mime theatre in St Petersburg. Her works include the dances in productions by the St Petersburg Chamber Opera Company, the Zazerkalye theatre, the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Komedianty Theatre and drama theatres in Orlov, Zelenograd, Mogilev, Norilsk, Rostov, Almaty and the Novaya Opera in Moscow.
In 2015 Irina Sharonova was invited by the Mariinsky Theatre to choreograph Vladimir Tarnopolsky’s production of А True Story about Cinderella (directed by Arkady Gevondov).
